How To Prepare For A Massage

Thankfully there’s not a lot you need to do to prepare for a massage.

As a massage therapist I have seen hundreds of clients and the number one thing you really need to do is be clean and showered.

I’m amazed that this even needs to be said, but the number of clients I have had come through who haven’t showered and are dirty and smell, it just astounds me.

So rule number one: have a shower and use deodorant.

The next rule after that? Be on time. Remember that you aren’t the massage therapist’s only client. They will often have other clients booked in after you, and if you just wander in 10-15 minutes after your appointment, expecting everyone to wait, you might be in for a rude shock. Aim to get there 5 minutes early, so that you and the massage therapist have time to get ready etc.

And that’s really about it. Maybe just check with your therapist whether there’s anything else they require from you, but so long as you follow those two main important rules, you should be fine.
